Sat 10/31 Happy HALoween - Sailing Sunday

We have not been out lately with the weather or not enough showing up like today, Saturday.  I was thinking it was the cold but the striped bass boat did ok with the fares. We do have heat in the cabin but we ask that you wear a mask at all times and no eating, smoking or drinking inside. With the lack of interest in the bottom fishing we will be switching to striped bass on Monday, so come down tomorrow, Sunday, if you want to fish for  backfish and sea bass. We  have crabs and clams for bait but we suggest that you don't put both baits on at the same time, one or the other. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Update to Tues 10/27 Bring crabs

All the bottom boats cancelled on Sunday morning with east winds, big swell, and tough fishing besides. No boats went out on Monday and not enough showed up for us today but we will be there in the morning, Weds (not sailing Thurs or Fri).  If you can stop an get some green crabs for the black fish as there has not been too many sea bass around. We will be bottom fishing until the jig fish (stripers) show up as they are only catching fish they can't keep right now. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you in the morning.

Sat 10/24 Big swell

There was a big heave, swell. or roll whatever you want to call it that did not help the fishing. It was not rough since the swell was spread out and it was hard to stay on the spots. We did pick a the sea bass, mostly shorts, but some keepers around the boat along with a keeper black fish  and a few shorts. We also ended up with an estranged porgy.  We will be back at it tomorrow but not sailing on Monday. Pick up some crabs if you want to try for  black fish. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Friday 10/23 Bring crabs if you want blackfish

It's been a slow week with not many showing up, we only had one guy at 7:30 am this morning and a couple showed up after the other boats left so we are now sailing at 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM this week until Friday and then  will switch to a regular 3/4 day schedule ( 7: 30 to 2 30 ). If you want to fish for black fish you are better off bringing some green crabs that you can pick up at: the local bait stores on the way down as the bait store in the harbor is closed, and we do not provide them now until black fish season opens, only clams. Thanks for looking in and reservations are no longer needed as we are not busy this time of year.

Thurs 10/22 a tough one

Went out with a great group of fishermen and found our way out to the grounds through the thick fog.  Bad anchoring conditions but we landed on some fish, mostly short sea bass and some keepers. Tried a couple other spots and only a few fish. Ended up with only a few keeper sea bass, trigger fish and a nice keeper porgy. Back at it tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Tues 10/20 report

Went out today with a small group, and other than the roll it  was a nice day on the water.  Picked away at short sea bass with some keepers mixed in. Also caught a few black fish but also mostly shorts and  a trigger fish, but the  porgies seem to be MIA. The action was good but the spiny dogfish were annoying at times. Starting on the weekend we will be leaving @ 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM since all the other boats are leaving early and don' t want to leave you standing on the dock. Thanks for looking in and here some pics.

Sat/Sun 10/ 17 & 18 gett'n better and no more reservations

Since the storm last Mon and Tues the fishing really changed. Porgies took off but we are now starting to see more sea bass and black fish but most are shorts. A lot better today than yesterday but still not good. We are now only sailing one trip a day, no afternoons, from 8 AM to 2 PM, please be there by 7:30 AM. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics from the last couple trips.  Since not many people are showing up you don't need reservations unless you wan to make them or have a larger group.

Thurs 10/15 no good

Went out this morning hoping things would change but they did not.  Caught a few short porgies and a couple of keepers and moved around to find on only a few more. A keeper black fish that won the pool and we boated a few short sea bass, but not good. Not sailing tomorrow with the rain forecast so hope to see you on the weekend. Thanks for looking in.

Sunday 10/11 through Tues

The fishing was not as good on Sunday but everyone caught fish just not a lot to take home. The kids though, did have a blast, some doing better then the adults. We did not go out on Monday or today with the strong easterly winds and rain. We will try again tomorrow, Weds, but  you may want to hold off another day or to to let the ocean lay down. We are now on a morning trip only schedule going from 8 AM to 2 PM but please be there by 7 :30 AM or call if you will be late, as the other boats will be leaving @ 7:30 and you can jump on another boat if  not enough show up. Thanks fir looking in and here are some pics.

Saturday 10/10 Still porgy time

Although the black sea bass season is open there are not many keepers around and we have been doing very well with the porgies. We had a good morning with fish all around the boat and everyone going home with a bunch. The afternoon as opposed to the day before was ok but not as good. The better fishermen caught 15 -20 and some only went home with a few. Not sailing tomorrow, Monday or Tues with the fore cast and then switching to a morning trip only 6 hour trip, 8 AM  - 2 PM. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. BTW I am having trouble posting on facebook so check my website for reports.

Fish Friday 10/9 Back to back good ones

The morning trip stared off with a good pick of porgies and couple of sea bass and a short blackfish. Went to try a couple other spots looking for more sea bass and black fish but only caught a couple with one black fish ending up as the pool fish. Went back to look for some more porgies and had a good shot before we went in. In the afternoon we headed back to where we left them biting but my competitor jumped on my spot (karma ?). Went to another spot and only had to make one drop picking away at mixed size fish including quite a few  jumbo porgies. Back at it today but not sailing Monday or Tues with the weather forecast. This will be our last weekend of half day fishing switching to a 6 hour morning trip only. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Weds 10/7 another good one

Went out to where we caught fish yesterday morning and they were there again. Picked away all morning and only made a shift when we swung off. Everyone had a nice mess of fish and  a nice time.  We did not try to go out in he afternoon with the wind forecast, of gale winds. Something to remember if it blows a gale, we don't sail. Thanks for looking in and here are few pics. Black sea bass opens tomorrow so  we will be targeting both.

Tues 10/6 A good one

We didn't make it out on Monday with not enough showing up but did get out this morning with just enough to go and had a good one. First stop only a few but the next spot we picked away the rest of the trip with everyone going home with half buckets of fish for a few meals.  Did not make the afternoon but will be there in the morning and already have a few coming down. Not sure about the afternoon so give me a call since they are predicting strong winds. No pics since I left the camera in the truck. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Sunday 10/4 a tough one

I knew it would be one of those days when we were booked up for the morning but then had a bunch of no shows after turning people away.  We headed out to where we caught them the day before and they were not there. Sounded like all the boats had a tough time, not that we did not catch fish but not many went home catching  mostly sea bass but only a few keeper porgies. The highlight of the morning were 2 nice trigger fish that were caught. The afternoon was better as everyone went home with a few fish. Did not get out this morning but will be there for the afternoon trip. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics, triggers are at the bottom of the list.

Sat 10/3 Its FAll

It was a nice crisp morning with a nice ocean and we picked right away on the first drop then drifted and made a couple of more drops. Everyone went home with fish for a few meals, some more then others. In the afternoon we went to another area and only drifted. It started off slow but then got better and we ended up with nice catch where even the little ones caught fish. Don't forget your masks and to make reservations on weekends.  Sailing half day through Columbus day 10/12 then switching to one 3/4 day morning trip only. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.
