Saturday 11/28 Nice ocean

The forecast was for seas 3 - 5 ft but it was only a swell as there was very little wind again. This also made it tough to stay on the spot again but we managed. Picked some shorts and a few keepers where we started but then moved to another area and had better conditions and fishing. Mate Earl, who was not working, came out to fish and got his limit out of the 8 keepers he caught. Pete Batista got the pool with one his keepers and there were others around the boat including guys who had rod rentals. Tomorrow 's weather looks ok but  Monday through Weds does not. Hope to see you and here are a few pics.

11/27 Black (fish) Friday

Good turnout for the boats on a unseasonably warm November day.  Very little wind and not much current until late made the anchoring conditions very tough, as we could not stay on one spot too long with slack anchor lines. But those that stuck at it and have fished blackfish before put together a decent catch. Irish Kevin got his limit of 6 and Bob Caputo 4 with  the pool. Had the honor of having John Impaglia on the boat who was the person who got me started in the business back in 1969. Yes I stared at the bottom coming down after school to help John clean the boat and help out on the weekends. John did catch a nice keeper and there were others around the boat but mostly in the bow. Today and tomorrow look ok but check with us for the weather on Monday and Tues. Here are some pics of Bob, Kevin,( his catch) and John at the bottom.

11/26 Thanksgiving day , Ladies day

It strarted out on the chilly side but warmed up nicely as the day went on.  Nice ocean early and then a roll built up even though there was very little wind. This made it difficult to stay on the spot but we picked slowly with a couple of young ladies starting off catching the first few keepers. Only a half day trip but high hook and pool winner Roger Lee, ended up with 5 keepers. Others had 3, 2 or one and some shorts.  Here are a few pics  and we are back on our 3/4 day schedule of 7:30 AM to # PM. Weather looks ok through Monday other than a few showers.

11/22 Tog to ten lbs

Another very slow start today but we built up the bite until the wind and tide shifted to push us off the spot and the bite slowed up.  The guys that could, did and the rest well, you know blackfishing. Biff got his limit and others with 3 to 5 keepers including Roger Lee with the pool fish of ten lbs (on the scale).  Was not that nice just  like yesterday morning started out but it got better as the day went on.  Tomorrow may be a little windy so we will play that one by ear so give us a call. here are a few pics of some of the catch. And remember we will sail half day on turkey day 7:30 to 12:30.

11/21 Rough start- nice finish

We went out with a small group, just enough to go and had to deal with a 20+ knot N E wind and an easterly sea. Was not comfortable but we did pick away at the fish both shorts and keepers. Made another move as the seas got nicer and continued to pick away to end up with a nice day of fishing. Everyone on the boat ended up with keepers and quite a few shorts. Pat Lamb had 5 keepers to 6 lbs,Doc and Grace 6 nice ks, and Jay Adams 5 keeps to over 7 lbs and the pool. Pete Batista 5 ks and Jonathan Harmon who finally got the knack, 5 ks and 21 shorts and a ling also just to mention a few. We are sailing every day including Thanksgiving but only Half day that day, 7:30 to 12:30.  Hope to see you soon and here are just a few pics but should have got more.

11/16 Opening day fo Blackfish

We got out to nice ocean but the anchoring conditions were not good and the fish did not want to turn on. Picked some small ones on the first drop then moved over to start catching some keeper blackfish along with shorts. Just a slow pick that never got going so we tried a couple other drops catching some sea bass and a couple of keeper cod. Not that good a day despite what some of the other reports were. We did not make it out today but sounds like we got lucky because the ocean was not nice. We will try again tomorrow morning but not on Thursday. Hope to see you soon and thanks for checking in. Here are some pics.

Sunday 11/15 out with a bang

We made it out with another small group of guys and had fish up in the bay. Caught a couple of slots(24-28 inch) that we kept with our bonus tags. Moved on down the beach and had one shot at fish on to to bag a couple of more slot fish(you are allowed one per person per day). It was hard to get on the fish with so many fast small boats knocking them down. At the end of the day the fish came up even better and we had a couple of good shots with 3 and 4 on at a time, boating keepers to 31 inches and some more slots, shorts and a big bluefish. Ended being a goo0d day but we did get in a little late. We are switching to BACKFISH today with the season opening to 6 per person. On days we cannot get out to the blackfish grounds we will striper fish so give us a call ahead of time. Hope to see yous soon and here are a few pics.

Saturday 11/14 no go

We did not make it out today along with most of the other boats because of the wind.  We will be sailing tomorrow still for striped bass and then will switch to blackfish on Monday when we can keep 6 fish. Weather looks good for the next few days so come on down. Crabs supplied for the blackfish and still sailing at 7:30 AM.

11/11 report

Veterans day and we salute them.  We looked all over the bay only to come back to where we started. Lots of birds working on bait and stripers but every time we stopped we got one or two mostly shorts but a few slot fish (24 - 28 inches) for the bonus tags. Back at it tomorrow if enough show up with the weather forecast of rain. We will do this fishing until Monday 11/16 when black fish opens and then fish for blackfish unless the weather will not allow us to and will revert back to the stripers so give us a call if not sure because today the bottom boats did not go out. Hope to see you soon and here are only a couple of pics.

11/ 9 Updated reports from past week

Well we just got things back on line to do reports. All in all it has been a tough week with the nice weather and trying to deal with the mass amount of small boats all trying to get to the same areas of fish on top. We did catch keeper and short stripers every trip and yesterday we got slammed with big blues in the mix.  It was great fun for a bunch of young boys that came on yesterday and I'm sure they slept well last night after battling big 10 - 18lb blues.  We are till trying to sail every day @ 7:30 AM for the bass until blackfish opens. Hope to see you this week and here are a few pics.
