Big black drum and more

We got out with  a nice group considering the rain this morning and headed back to where we had the bite yesterday. Caught an immediate short and then some keepers after that. Only a pick of shorts and keepers but less action then yesterday because of fewer shorts being caught but about the same number of keepers at the end. The pool winner of 20 lbs was by Robert who also had two other keepers. Highlight of the morning was a big black drum (fish) of about 6o lbs that surprised everyone. It was very chilly morning for end of April with hoodies and jackets for all but the weather looks like it will warm up by mid week.. The afternoon trip was a bust with only a couple of anglers showing up but we are now trying to sail every day, two trips @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Hope to see you soon and thanks for looking in. Here are a few photos.

Sat 4/28 Finally - the best day yet

The morning started out with thick fog and it was not fun getting to the grounds. Didn't read much but made a drop anyway. Started off with a nice keeper so I thought,  ok,  we got the pool fish out of the way. We then started picking, mostly shorts, but then the keepers started to come. Sometimes two or three on at a time, and ended up with  great morning with a boat limit of 28" fish and everyone going home with one. The pool fish of over 20 lbs was caught by a first timer that was not even fishing in the stern and had two keepers to his name. Another  good thing was we did not lose any due to angler error, listen to what we tell you and you should land your fish unless the hook pulls out. I tend to yell a lot at customers about not touching the drag or putting your thumb on the spool. We are now sailing every day, 7 days a week, two trips,(although we din not make the afternoon trip with only a couple  showing up) so come on down. Thanks for looking in and hope to see yous soon. Here are some pics.

Recent reports from 4/23 & 24

Made both trips on Sun and Mon, with nice mornings but cool afternoons with the southerly breezes.  Picked at some shorts and only a few keepers were caught.  We did not try to go out on Tues and today but will be back at it on Friday, but the weather does not look great with showers in the forecast. This time of  year try and plan your trips on the weather, sunny and not windy, especially during the week as not enough fares will show up to go and we  don't want to see you make a trip for nothing. One other note, we would like to apply a rule that is used in restaurants where you cannot be seated until your entire party is there. In our case though, PLEASE - NO  saving spots in the stern (back of the boat), as these are the preferred spots when anchored. It's not fare to the people who come early to get those spots but we will gladly put you and your buddies or family together up on the side.  Thank you for respecting this rule and for looking in. Here are a few pics and hope to see you soon.  From Friday,4/27 on, we will be trying to sail everyday, weather and participation permitting.

Sat 4/21 Good morning but...

Sorry I forgot the camera and will post pics in the A M.  Only had to make one drop and picked away with some times 3 on at a time, mostly shorts but half the fishermen ended up with a keeper. On the afternoon trip it was not as productive with mostly shorts and less action. Back at it tomorrow so hope to see you then. Sailing Sunday and Monday and by the forecast not until Friday again. Thanks for looking in.

Saturday 4 / 15 Striper time

First of all let me apologize for the delayed report, as I have been very busy baby sitting the boat day and night the last two days with the hard east winds. We made our maiden voyage on Saturday,a beautiful morning, and honestly did not expect too much but we were pleasantly surprised. Not a lot of action but the first fish was a keeper after quite a few bites and misses. The fish are hitting very light and hard to hook, probably because there a lot of small fish picking at the baits. We ended up with  2 that were close to being keepers and picked at some small fish but it was action. On the afternoon trip it got cooler and the fish did not cooperate right away. We did end up getting a pick going with two keepers and two close ones (26 1/2  & 27") along with some small shorts. We will sail again on Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday, and again on Weds. After that we will start a a daily 7 day schedule on Friday 4/27 , but not sailing Thurs 4/26. Thanks for looking in and if you have any questions feel free to call me. Her are some pics of the trips on Saturday.

Back Home - Sailing Tomorrow, Sat 4 /14

The tiger is back in here summer den after hibernating all winter. Hope everyone had a safe and healthy one. We will  only sail on Saturday with bad weather coming on Sunday. Two half day trips on the regular schedule of  8 AM - 12:30 PM and again at 1:30 - 6 PM, most likely clamming unless the fish come up. Do not expect much except for a nice day,  since the water is still cold and there are not a lot of fish around, especially keepers. Thanks for looking sin and hope to see you soon.
