Sunday 7/30 report & pics

None of the boats went out on Saturday due to the strong  NE winds. Sunday was still breezy from the north which made it difficult to fish hold the edge of the channel so we had to just drift to it and across.  Therefore we did not so as good as we could have. We did pick some nice fish but not enough for the gang we had on board. Live snappers was the ticket. On the afternoon trip the winds died down and then switched to the other direction. We did catch more fish for half the amount of fishermen we had in the morning. Still sailing two trips, every day, 7 days a week at 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Here are some  pics and 3 that were not put on Fridays report(at the end). Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Thurs/Fri reports - Conditions and a reprieve

We did not have the right conditions on Thursday for drifting where we found some fish and only had a few keepers and some shorts on the morning trip. Gary did did land a nice 4 1/4 lber that was the fist keeper and held up for the pool. In the afternoon we had a little better conditions and caught a few more keepers. Even Howard form Oakland, boated two nice ones, his first two keepers of the year. Friday we had much better conditions and picked away with wind and tide together and not too fast. Mike who was taken out on his birthday a couple weeks ago by his wife Karisa(who got 2 keepers and the pool), while he got 0 keepers , did get two to her one. It was one of our better trips as was the afternoon when only 9 anglers showed up but we ended up with ten keepers. Here are pics and thanks for looking in. Today does not look good with the N E winds to 30+ mph.

Weds 7/26 Lucky young lady

Nice day with good conditions in the morning so we went to an area we caught a few fish last week and caught even better. Picked away at mixed fish and had about 5 keeper fluke on the first drift. One young lady who has been coming with her dad ended up with two keeper fluke and the pool for her third time, and using a rod rental. That was the best drift but an improvement. The afternoon trip was also much better than it has been with squid and spearing doing the trick. Teacher Bob Sabo took the pool with his nice keeper. Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in.

Mon/Tues reports

Monday morning started out nice until we got hit by a unpredicted squall with winds to about 50 -60 mph. It didn't last that long but the winds did not die down as they normally do afterwards. 20  - 25 from the N left us only one area to fish. Not a good morning with only a couple of keepers. We were the only fluke boat to make it out in the afternoon and the weather got nice. Professor Dan  Ogilvie showed the younger customers up by boating two nice keepers and the pool. Tuesday was a very nice cloudy cool day but not many showed up. Woody got his two keepers on one drift but not the pool. We even boated a nice sized kingfish which we haven't seen. We barely made it out with just a few customers for the afternoon, as nice as it was, but had an enjoyable one. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in.

Sat/Sun 7/22-23 Not just about the fishing

The weather man got us again but it was very pleasant out on Sunday with clouds and a cool  breeze that was a relief from the hot temps this past week. Not much action in the first part of the morning but then we started picking some shorts and few keepers with Marissa(in pink) taking the pool. On the afternoon trip we had a slow pick of shorts and keeper and went looking rather than just staying in one are as one half day boat does. Had a slower pick but a few more keepers and the folks on board had a fun good time. Most were regulars but mate Chuck did a great job entertaining them and helping them catch fish. With the slow fishing this year that does not look like it will improve much, but hope it does, come out with the attitude of just having a good time with a buddy or two or girl friend and hopefully catch dinner. Saturday we did have a better turnout but not what it should be for this time of year on a nice weekend day. Had a fair amount of keepers in the morning, with Manny taking the pool but the afternoon was much slower with mostly shorts. Here are some pics so hope to see you soon and thanks for looking in. Sailing every day, 2 trips, rain or shine.
