Weds- Happy HALoween

We got out with another small group of guys with the ocean and winds calm.  Went to where we caught them on Monday (did'nt get out Tues) and expected a good and early day. Well you know what happens trying to predict fishing. Picked a few short tog and sea bass along with a keeper and a  keeper and short porgy. Moved and caught a few spiny dog fish( the winter dogs) so we were out of there. Went to another area and the first drop was no good but the second one was ok as we picked some short and keeper sea bass and tog. High hook had four keeper tog(black fish) so the day was not a total loss.  Got windy at the end with gusts to over 25 out of the south so we will see what tomorrow brings. Did have a few calls so we will be going out tom. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Mon 10/29 Manny the man & an ass kicking

Had a couple of calls for the morning but some did not show up.  Was on the fence whether or not to go but we did with a small group. When we got farther out was I sorry we did go out as it got rougher. The fishing was no good the day before as the boats out from our marina only had some silver eels and a couple of short blackfish from what I heard. But we had our fingers crossed and hoped for the best. Got anchored up but we were rolling around, then a double header sea bass came up with one keeper. Relief some life. Picked a few more shorts and then a couple of short blackfish to my surprise. Picked slowly but it got better as a few more keeper black fish came up with Manny starting it off and finishing up with 3 keepers to 7.5 lbs. Tony got a nice 7 lber and every one fishing for them caught one or went home with a keeper blackfish and some with sea bass. No porgies were caught but hope the show up again. Here are some pics, but some did not their pic taken, and thanks for looking in.

Friday 10/26 U missed it

Went out with only a small group of patrons on a very nice, calm, flat ocean with very little wind. We have not seen that in a couple of weeks, wish there was a better turnout. Good fishing again with lots of big porgies, buckets full, black sea bass and tog (blackfish) also in the mix. Mike ( daisy mike) took his one fish blackfish limit of the three he caught, another guy had two some one plus some shorts. None of the boats sailed Saturday with the 45+ mph winds and although it seemed nice today I hear it is not nice on the ocean. We were there to go out but only a couple of fishermen showed up. Sailing every day weather permitting, call ahead if not sure. Her are some pics and thanks for looking in.

Tues/ Weds no go - Special trip on Thurs.

Tuesday turned out beautiful but for some reason not enough showed up to go fishing. Great fishing lately and good weather, don't get it. This morning was a little chilly and will become breezy but again not enough to go out. We will be on the dock to go out tomorrow and Friday but Saturday does not look good so don't come down. Tomorrow, Thursday(10/25) we will run a special shorter trip leaving at 7:30 AM but returning by 1:30 PM  at a reduced rate of $50.00 for all (full & seniors). Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon with this good fishing. Clams provided for bait and crabs available.

Monday 10/22 another good one

None of the boats went out Sunday and shame on you if you came down with a gale winds forecast. Please remember this, IF ITS GALE  - WE DON'T SAIL ! We did get out today and glad we did. Not a big turnout and we only had to make one drop. But after my last report on Friday , we had close company. Very good pick on porgies and some black sea bass (keepers and shorts). Full buckets  around the boat with one guy telling me her had 17 double headers of porgies along with the ton of singles he caught. Then we started to pick on black fish for those fishing for them. If you want to catch blackfsh then pick up some crabs. We may have some on the boat to sell but will not be providing them with a one fish keeper limit on blackfish. Mate Chris caught 3 keepers , I had one and a few others around the boat, along with some shorts. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Saturday 10/20 Boat limit of blackfish and more, But not tomorrow

We went out to another area after yesterday's trip. Longer ride and it was not nice the farther out we got. /even on anchor it was quite rolly. Very uncomfortable but we picked some nice porgies and sea bass on the first drop but it didn't last . Made a couple of other moves and then got lucky with a nice pick of sea bass and porgies, and then we got the blackfish going. Rodger Lee and Bob Caputo took their one fish limit of the 5 or so they caught. Yours truly caught 2 with one of 6 lbs .We are not providing crabs yet so pick some up if you want to fish for them.  We ended up with more fish than we thought as mate Steve ended up cleaning fish at the dock. Thanks for looking in and NOT sailing tomorrow with the wind forecast.

Friday 10 /19 Not like it was

Went out today with a small group and went to where we left off on Weds but did not read any fish on the fish finder, so we went out farther to where we had fish on Sun afternoon. Did not read as much as we did on Sunday but gave it a shot. Had a nice shot of sea bass but only a couple of porgies. Ventured out to another area and got another shot or two but over all not good fishing. Everyone went home with a few fish but not like it was. Today was our last half day morning  trip, even though there were a couple of people to go out in the afternoon. NO more afternoon trips and now 3/4 day leaving at 7:30 A M.  Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. I have been getting calls for stripers but they are not local yet so hang in there and stay posted. Here are a few pics.

Weds 10/17 just made it

We went out with a handful of fishermen before the wind kicked up. Made a few drops and picked away at some nice size porgies and a few small sea bass. As we headed back in the wind was against the tide(current) so it got a little bouncy going around the hook but not bad once in the bay. Mate Chris decided to throw out a jig at some birds working while we were heading in and hooked up with an albacore so I had to slow down for him ( let a customer do it) to reel it in. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. Tomorrow does not look good for fishing so wait until Friday. Saturday we will start our 3/4 day trips, leaving at 7:30 AM.

Mon/Tues No go

Not enough fares showed up on Monday for any of the boats to sail and today it was too windy, with wind against the tide where we want to fish. I m up in the air, no pun intended, about tomorrow. I think we can get the morning in but will have to see how hard the wind is blowing at that time. thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. REMINDER we are only sailing morning trips only this week and will switch to 3/4 day on Sat 10 /20.

Sunday 10/14 Did it again

We had a another great morning catching porgies and a few black sea bass. Starting on  anchor we picked away but then we tried drifting and that was even better. Mate Steve had a tough time keeping up cleaning the fish as more came in then he could clean resulting in finishing at the dock. On the afternoon trip we made a couple of drops only to catch a few. Then the strong current came so we went out farther as we did  the day before and found them again. Picked away at porgies and sea bass , shorts and keepers, with a few big beauties mixed in. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. This week thru  Friday we will ONLY  be sailing the morning trip, no afternoons. Please be there by 7:30 A M as that's when the other boats will be leaving and you can jump ship if we do not have enough fares to go out. We will then switch to a 3/4 day, one trip schedule on Saturday October 20.

Sat 10/13 Went the exra mile

The morning looked like a nice one but when we got out to the grounds it was wind against tide so we swung around on the anchor, but  pick away at some nice porgies though. Just a small group of guys and it was on the cool side. Everyone one went home with a nice mess of fish. On the afternoon trip the current was strong so it was hard holding bottom so people on the sides had some problems with tangles but the fish were there for those who knew how to catch them. After a couple of drops I decided to got out a lot farther to get away from the current. It was a little gamble late in the game but it paid off. Picked away at mostly short sea bass with few keepers mixed in at first. After a while we started to see more porgies and keeper sea bass. We stayed late and of course got in late but I think it was appreciated as every one caught and went home with fish. Tomorrow is out last two trip day and will only sail mornings this week starting Monday, but please arrive by 7:30 AM as the other boats will be sailing by then and if we don't have enough to go out you can jump on another boat. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.
