We ended up with enough fishermen to go out and had plenty of room to fish one side. Just a few fish on the first couple of drifts sand then it was hang on! Not that it was rough only a little rolly, but 2, 3, 4 on at a time. By 9 AM we had a boat limit of 28" keepers and then proceeded to fill the slot limit with our bonus tags. My shoulders are sore from lifting in big stripers. We threw back at least 30 or more keepers to 37 " plus some shorts, not that many of them. Paul got the pool with one he threw back (20 lbs), after weighing it. So that's how we do it, get our limit of keepers and any bigger ones we weigh and throw back for another day cause you never know when the bite will stop. Now is the time to come striped bass fishing and the week days have been much better with less boat traffic. I will decide tomorrow when we will switch to blackfish as the season opens on Thurs where you can keep 6 rather then one. As of now I am thinking of switching on Friday Through Sun for the backsfish but waiting for an updated weather report, so stay tuned. Thanks for looking and here are a few pics. Oh and btw some whales around too.

Sunday 11/12 boat pressure
After a great Saturday trip throwing keepers back after limiting out, we could have used them on Sunday. Picked at a few early then it got tough once all the boats got around. Even the Belmar and Point Pleasant boats were up here because the boat pressure down there hurt their fishing. We did manage keepers but not enough to limit the boat and we had more shorts and and couple of slot (bonus) fish. We did not make it out today but will try again tomorrow. We will see how the week goes before deciding if we will switch to blackfish for the opening (6 per person) on Thursday. thanks for looking in and here are only a few pics of some of the catch.

Saturday 11/11 Boat Limit plus - now is the time
For those that showed up to brave the cold temps, and it was not many for us, it was worth it. The morning started off a little slow but then we got into some fish. Mostly on jigs and a couple on eels, but the dogfish seemed to like them better. We ended up with a boat limit of keepers ( >28 ") and then proceeded to throw back more keepers than we caught. Only a couple of shorts and one bonus fish (24-28") but everyone went home with fish. Although it was cold there was not a lot of wind and by the afternoon it was nice. Back at it tomorrow and the rest of the week, so hope to see you soon. Here are a few pics, not all the fish, and thanks for looking in.

Friday 11/9 Striper & whale time
We took a ride out of our local area since the best fishing has been on the out going which would not have been until noon. We came across bunkers and a couple of whales feeding on them and stripers were also in the mix. Picked on each drift, all keepers, and accidentally hooked a whale that swam under the bow. No it doesn't count in the pool buddy. One man with a rod rental did land 3 keepers on a jig and some were also caught on eels and shads. The largest, the pool fish, was 22 lbs@ 40" We then went back to a more local area only to catch a couple of shorts and one slot (24 -28") bonus fish, we do have bonus tags. No boats in our harbor sailed today due to the gale force winds. We will be back at it tomorrow, Saturday, and the rest of the week, so come on down and dress warm. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Weds 11/8 Sailing tomorrow
We did not make it out today due to the lack of patrons, but I did get a few calls for tomorrow so we will be going out at 7:30 AM for Striped Bass. I have been getting a lot of calls the past month for striped bass but up until the past week it has not been good. Well the bite is on now so come on down. Tomorrow looks good as far as weather but Friday does not with high winds and cold temps. We will be jigging and maybe using eels, so bring a spinning rod to cast with and a heavier conventional rod. Hope to see you on the dock and thanks for looking in.

Monday 11/6 We will be switching
No bottom fishing boats went out on Sunday with the rough seas. Got out Monday with a handful of anglers and the ocean didn't look bad until we got farther south. The last 2 miles were a little bumpy but once we got anchored up it wasn't bad. We picked away at porgies, some nice sized ones, and mixed black sea bass, keepers and shorts. Mate Chris and I fished for black fish and we both caught a couple of nice keepers to 6 lbs although crabs were available to all. We will be bottom fishing today and will then switch to Striped Bass starting tomorrow, on the same schedule for a couple of weeks, give me a call if you are not sure. Thanks for looking in, here are a few pics, and hope to see you soon.

Saturday 11/4 Not nice but good
The wind picked up last nite and was blowing this morning out of the north east about 20 + mph. We got enough to go out, mostly regulars, and I knew it was not going to be nice. The farther out we went the rougher it got, not enough to turn around but not nice. Even anchored up it was uncomfortable. We did, however, manage to pick away at porgies, sea bass and some nice black fish. We ended up with a boat limit of black fish (one per person), and a mess of porgies, and some keeper sea bass but most of the sea bass as usual were short. We will be on the dock tomorrow and see what the weather is. If we do go out I do not think it will be that nice, just a heads up. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in.
