We will not be sailing until Friday, Oct 3, due to the dry noreaster coming and the big swells from the off shore hurricane. We will then be bottom fishing for Sea bass, porgies and black fish (no crabs supplied) only clams until the stripers (striped bass) show up, hopefully by the end of Oct. The picture I am putting up was from our last fluke trip on Weds 10/24, of a big Sheepshead porgy we caught while fishing for fluke.

Weds 9/24 It's a wrap & beast of a porgy
With the impending weather tomorrow we will call it game over for the fluke. NOT sailing tomorrow and will resume on Oct 1, 10/1 when sea bass opens. No use trying to catch porgies that are not there and having to throw back nice big sea bass that don't always live. Taking a few days off but we did catch a few keepers today along with some shorts, and a beast of a porgy, sheepshead, that came in at 7.86 lbs. Young young Sam took the pool this morning on his first ever party boat trip, and Owen had another to back him up, the young guys showed up their dads and others. On the afternoon trip we tried another area, but got a keeper fluke and then went other areas and caught another along with some shorts and a big surprise boating a 7.86 lb sheeps head porgy. So our schedule will be 8 M to 2 PM, one trip only, starting Oct 1, when sea bass opens. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics. Fell free to call to see if we are sailing.
Tues 9/23 Ocean fluke report
We went out to where we had some fish the last couple time we fished the ocean but only found a few short fluke but a nice amount of big sea bass that we can not keep. We will be doing our two half day trips today, Weds, as long as enough show up, and I did have some calls, but that does not mean they will show and that is why I don't take reservations. We will be fishing more locally as the ocean was no good and can't do much worse. As far as tomorrow, not sure about the forecast and will decide later, I'm afraid the rain may scare everyone off. Thanks for looking in and see you on the boat.

Sun / Mon 9/21 & 22 New monthly leader @ 5.8 lbs
Sunday was like both trips on Sat with only a keeper for the pool but we did have a shot of porgies and only a few short fluke but very little action. Today, we got to go to the ocean with the winds dying down although thee was still a big swell, not rough. Went to where we had them on last Monday before the blow and did not see much. Tried a few other spots and finally got few a few fish with a new monthly leader at 5.8 lbs and a few others but no action other than sea bass, nice ones but can't keep them. sailing tomorrow and until the end of fluke season, 9/25, but then taking off until sea bass season on 10/1. Very few porgies around so we will wait till sea bass season. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sat 9/20 Not like yesterday - Sailing Sun but can not fish the ocean
We went out today knowing we could not fish the ocean where we caught them yesterday. Tried where we caught them locally but n g. Couple of shorts and small sea bass here and there but overall no good. Did get a keeper fluke for the pool on both trips and some shorts and that's the truth, no sugar coating it. With the weather tomorrow looks like the same deal so just a heads up. We will be sailing but not going in the ocean so see if we can make the best of it. Thanks for looking in and only one pic as the camera is on the blink again.

"Good" Fri 9/19 They are not all gone
As we headed out some of us were just hoping for a keeper for the pool, since some guys are saying the fluke are all gone after all the east winds, but we did much better than that. Made a short stop and scored with a keeper and then headed out to the unknown. Tried a couple of areas and then found a few, thanks for a little help from a friend, and worked that area over as it produced two limits, Mike of Cathy and Mike and Irish Gary also got his limit of keeper fluke. Old John got his two keepers and Bill L took the pool with his keeper. A few other singles around the boat but not a lot of short fluke action, although the sea bass action was ok including would have been keepers, season closed until Oct 1. The winds do not sound good the next couple of days for ocean fishing but we will be sailing and will try to make the best of it. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics as we got the camera working.

Update to Thurs 9/18
On Tues we did a half day special with the NE winds kicking up and knew we could not fish the ocean. It was windy and a little rolly but we tried a few different areas only to find some sea bass, and short fluke but Andy did manage a keeper for the pool. Nobody went out on Weds and we tried to go out this morning but not enough showed up to, although the weather is nice. Sailing tomorrow, Friday, one 6 hr trip, and then 2 half day trips on the weekend, but this will be the last weekend for half day fishing. Thanks for looking in but no pics as the battery died on the camera Tues. Not sure what our schedule will be after Thurs 9/25, last day of fluke.

Mon 9/15 Ok in bay, Sailing half day AM only Tues. Not sailing Weds
We decided to make a stop in the bay before we headed out to the ocean and good thing we did. Picked some keeper fluke and a few shorts along with the sea bass we had to release. As we went to go out into the ocean, I heard the drift was fast and some guys were headed back into where we were. Tried a few other areas but caught mostly shorts. Therefore we will only be doing a half day, morning only trip tomorrow (if enough show up) and not going out on Weds with the rain and wind forecast. Looking to the future, Weds 9/24 will be our last day for half day trips and will only be doing one 6 hr trips 8AM - 2 PM until stripers, call for our schedule after 9/25. We MAY hold off sailing until sea bass opens on Oct 1, unless the porgies show up. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sat Sun 9/13 & 14 Better than I thought Fluke reports
Did not know what to expect on Sat being restricted to time and having to fish more locally, But we made the best of it and ended up as good as some of the all day boat as far as keepers. Not the short action we would have liked but at least it was something but had to work hard at it with lot of power drifting the snags and ledges. On the afternoon trip the south winds kicked up and it made it more difficult with the against the tide. Only managed a couple of keepers and some shorts, but we tried hard. Sunday we did catch more keepers in the morning, on a beautiful day but the afternoon was almost a repeat on Sunday afternoon with less wind, no drift, and mostly rod rents that did not help, and only picked some shorts but did get a keeper. Back at it tomorrow on our 6 hour trip form 8 AM to 2. Thanks for looking n and here are some pics.

Fri 9/12 Thought it would be nicer
Although it was not that rough yesterday just swells, we thought it would be nicer today(Friday) but it was not as east winds kicked up a little and made the drift fast and there was more waves than yesterday until later in the afternoon. Had to put heavier weights on so please have a heavier rod available, not the light noodle rods you may like to fish with in the bay or shallow waters. Not easy fishing but we did manage some nice keeper fluke along with the shorts, but most of the action was the sea bass that we had to throw back, including some nice keepers. On our half day schedule Sat and Sun so we probably not be going out as far and hope we can find some more local fish. Thanks for looking in and here are some .pics.
