Tuesday 4/30 Finally got out

We did not make it out on Monday or this morning but got out this afternoon. With just enough to go we did not find any top water life so went bait fishing. Anchored up and did catch a couple of shorts. Made a move and caught a few more shorts and then finally did boat a couple of keepers.  Back at it tomorrow and sailing every day now, 2 trips @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you on the dock. Camera malfunctioned again and only one pic.

Sunday 4/28 report

We and none of the other boats went out on Saturday with the strong winds. Today we were heading  back to where we had some short action on the last trip but then went to where there was some bird life in the other direction. Picked a few nice keepers on the first drift but could not repeat it. looked around but then the bite was over. On the afternoon trip we heard that the area we were in in the morning was dead by then so we went to clamming. Picked a few shorts on a couple of drops an then went to look for some jig fish. Lost a couple but did boat one that just missed at 27". Back at it tomorrow so come on down. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics of some of the fish before the battery died.

Friday 4/26 Are we sailing ?

Good question, are we sailing  tomorrow or not. Honestly I am not sure and will have to decide in the morning depending on the wind. If we do go out it will NOT be nice with winds predicted to 35 knots and an incoming tide against it. We will be on the dock and go from there, sorry if you have to make along trip but Sunday sounds much better. Thanks for looking in and call me in the morning if you like but not too early as we my not know.

Weds/Thurs reports Where did they go ?

The last few days the fishing got worse with only some shorts and and a rare keeper. the guess is that they are spawning and not eating so we will take tomorrow off and not sail with the inclement weather of rain and will keep an eye on Saturday  with the wind coming. Clamming (bait) and /or jigging so be ready for both.  Give me a call tomorrow eve about Sat. Not much to show but here is a pic of one of the keepers we caught and thanks for looking in.

Tuesday 4/23 April fools ? Bring a sweatshirt

We got out on both trips looking for jig fish for a little bit in the morning then bait (clam) fishing where we did boat a keeper and a few shorts with Kenny taking the pool on a gorgeous morning with sunny warm temps and no wind. On the afternoon trip the folks expected the same nice warm weather but got fooled when the S E winds kicked up. We didn't bother looking for jig fish and went bait fishing with the same results of a keeper and a few shorts. If you come down be prepared for either fishing and bring a sweat shirt. Thanks for looking in and here are a couple of pics. BTW watch the weather for Thurs afternoon and Friday, looks like some rain coming.

Monday 4/22 Those that can

We got out with a small group in the morning but did not make the afternoon trip with the lack of customers. Just a note, this time of year if the weather does not  look good during the week especially in the afternoon, save yourself a trip and pick a nicer day when more people will show up. On the morning trip we did boat some keepers and a short but it was a struggle although one man caught 3 keepers of which he took home one. There are no bonus tags available  in the spring so you can only have one fish over 28" and a second one if it's over 43". Sailing every day , 2 trips @ 8 AM  and again @ 1:30 PM.  Thanks for looking in  and here are a couple of pics.

Sunday 4/21 Happy Easter/Passover

We were one of two boats that sailed with a nice sized group and of course the fish were not cooperating. Looked all over from the navy pier to the knoll  to old orchard and lost a nice one on top when the knot let lose. Finally found a few fish and boated a beauty the ended up being a
the pool fish around 20 lbs. Caught a few more keepers and a couple of shorts but overall a tough day for most of the boats but we got a little lucky again. Back at it tomorrow and here are a few pics. Thanks for looking in.

Saturday 4/20 got lucky

Well as the saying goes rather be lucky than good, we got lucky this morning. Not may showed up with the rainy weather but got out with a  small group and the winds were kicking up from the south.  Made a couple of  stops and then stopped on a nice a patch of fish and it was game one for one drift. All nice keepers to over 30 lbs that gave us over half a boat limit with 2 and 3 on at a time.Went back up for another drift but only caught one more and that was it for the morning bite. Pete Battista got the pool with his 30 + lber. On the afternoon trip we we only got one keeper after several stops and it didn't look like it was going to happen. Tried another area and ended up picking shorts and couple of more keepers. We will be sailing tomorrow, Easter Sunday, but only the morning trip. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

GOOD fishing Friday 4/19

We are now sailing daily starting today and will be sailing the weekend except for Easter Sunday afternoon.  Today we headed out and only  had to stay in the bay area where it was not  rough and after riding around found some hungry fish.  Picked at some nice big keeper stripers to over 20 lbs although as in all fishing, those that could, did. Couple of guys got 4 keepers, some one or two but unfortunately not everyone caught but most went home with fish. Not enough showed up to make the afternoon trip but we will be back at it tomorrow. Here are some pics of some of the fish and thanks for looking in.

Saunday's report 4/14 bad to good

We went back to where we had life and action on Saturday going through thick fog that lasted most of the morning. Anchored up but only got a few bites so we tried a couple of other spots only to get a couple of shorts.  On the way home we saw life and birds working so we started there in the afternoon. Made a few drifts jigging catching all keepers to 20 lbs. Then the action slowed down but we hung around to catch a couple more keepers and a couple of shorts. A great afternoon after a slow morning. We will not be sailing until Friday, April 19 and then we will start a regular daily schedule sailing 7 days. Easter Sunday we will only run a morning trip. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

We made our first trip of the season today with just a small group and ended up picking at the shorts with lots of misses on both trips, boating a keeper in the morning and a 2 in the afternoon but the action kept everyone interested and at the rail. Sailing 2 trips again tomorrow but then not until Good Friday, 4/19 will we start a regular daily schedule. Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in.
