We did not go out on Friday or today with the weather, rain and easterly winds. Tomorrow, Sunday, is not looking good either, but we will try on Monday for our last striped bass trips. FLUKE starts on Tuesday, May 2 on the same half day schedule. Hope to see you soon and thanks for looking in.
We did not have a good trip on Weds as far as catching fish, even though we went to where we have been catching them in the morning, and did not get out in the afternoon. Did not make it this morning but got out with a small group this afternoon and got lucky, as they say. Luca from N.H. reeled two beauty's up to 37" and his dad Ed also got a keeper at the end as did Matt who won the pool with a 35" beauty. Few others were caught, so everyone that wanted fish went home with fish, and we topped the day with a nice whale show by two humpbacks. Sailing tomorrow AM only and NOT on Saturday. We did not make the morning trip with only a few showing up, but we did get the afternoon in. Went back to where we have been fishing lately and boated a keeper right away. Caught a few more after that but it was not like yesterday with Norm taking the pool with one of his two keepers. We did not make the morning trip with only a few showing up, but we did get out on the afternoon trip. Caught fish on almost every drift and got to just short of a boat limit, with Scott doing his thing with 4 keepers and there were others around the boat and Jamie took the pool with a 34.5 fish. Everyone that wanted fish went home with fish. Our custom spinning rod rentals also boated a few. Back at it tomorrow at 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Thanks for looking in and here are few pics.
We went back to the scene of the beating on Friday and it was if the crime scene was wiped clean. No readings, no birds or fish on top, so everyone had a tough day. Was hoping for better results in the afternoon but there wasn't. Today we had enough to go out and headed up to the area where we caught them on Friday again, but only managed a pool fish. The afternoon, however was much better as we picked at all nice keepers and one that was too big and had to go back. So the moral of the story, is you never know when it will be good or bad, but that is fishing. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.
We went to where we had a couple of fish yesterday this morning and they were chewing. Had a small group but everyone went home with a striper for dinner, Shawn being high hook with 3. The afternoon was also good, but we did not make a boat limit, just a couple shy, but still everyone went home with fish for dinner, if they wanted it. Bob O took the pool in the afternoon with a 35 " beauty but the biggest fish was caught by "Mom" @ 37" but did not count in NY waters.Back at it tomorrow and every day, 7 days a week. 8 AM sailing and again @ 1:30 PM. We did not make it out on Weds AM with only 3 showing up but we did go out on the afternoon trip with high hopes and optimism. As we looked around and waited for the tide to get going, it did not happen. This morning we did go out with only a few guys hooping to get a reprieve and that did not happen. Had a better turnout in the afternoon and again had high hopes but only managed to put a couple in the boat after a lot of riding around, must be the new moon I figure. We ended up with just enough to go this morning but I was not too optimistic. The wind came on and it was chilly as we tried a couple of different areas but finally caught one, but that was it. With the wind and not enough to go out we cancelled the afternoon trip. Back at it tomorrow morning but I do have a few calls for the afternoon which has been better lately. We did not try to go out this morning with the weather forecast as it turned out to be the right decision. Did go out this afternoon and had a nice pick of all keeper striped bass limiting in a couple of hours and then threw the rest back, every one caught including our rod rentals(we have custom spinning rods to rent). Ben was high hook with 7 and Scott took the pool with a 36.5' fish and also had 4 or 5 but we threw back bigger ones after the limit was reached. Sailing every day, 7 days now, at 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM, but the afternoon fishing has been much better. Thanks for looking in and here are pics of SOME of the fish, we kept 18.
We went out with a small group for a Sunday morning and did a lot of riding around in thick fog. Never put it together but the afternoon was a different story. Not as good as yesterday but still good fishing and catching. Jake took the pool with his 18 lber 35.5 " fish coming out again after yesterdays great afternoon fishing, and 10 yr old Kyler got his first striper and mad dad proud. NOT sailing tomorrow AM trip but will be there for the afternoon. We will then begin our 7 day, daily 2 trip schedule @ 8and again @ 1:30 PM. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.
