Saturday 9/29 Another good one

We had another great day fishing in the morning with limits on down. Those that could catch them, did and its not very hard, even the young people caught them. On the afternoon trip we stayed local because the current would be too strong where we were in the morning but we ended  up with a nice catch of fish on a beautiful afternoon. Still sailing two half day trips o the same schedule and the weather this week looks good. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in.

Thursday 9/27 Porgy pounding

Nobody went out on Tues with the high winds and we did not have enough to sail on Weds morning and no boats went out in the afternoon. Got out Thursday morning with more wind than we expected but the seas were not that bad. Looked over where we caught them on Monday and didn't see them so moved to another area. We only had a few readings but decided to try it anyway . Just a pick at first but then it got better with double headers and constant action the whole morning. many limits and close to a boat limit with nicer size fish. Made the afternoon trip also but the current was much stronger but we still put together a nice catch with half buckets rather then the full buckets plus that we had in the morning. Not sure if enough will show this morning with the rain coming down (we will be there) but the afternoon looks good. Hope to see you soon so come down and catch some fun. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics but think I missed a few.

Monm 9/24 Another good one

We made it out with a small group but not looking forward to it with the east winds kicking up to 20 plus. It was not nice but not terrible and we only had to make one drop, picking away the whole time with a limit on down. We went in a little early since everyone had enough. Did not bother with the afternoon as it would only be rougher on the out going tide. No boats sailed today but we will give it a shot tomorrow morning but not the afternoon. Thursday on  looks good so come down an catch some dinner and fun. Still on the half day schedule sailing at 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Sunday 9/23 Porgy time

Fluke season is now closed so it's time for bottom fishing for porgies etc. Only made 2 drops in the morning with the second being better and picked away at mixed sized porgies, most of them keepers (9 ") . half to 3/4 buckets full so every one went home with dinner plus. Did it again in the afternoon on only one drop. Porgies, blow fish and sea bass that we can't keep on both trips. Will decide in the morning if we will go out depending on the wind but the afternoon and Tuesday do not look good. Thanks for looking in and here are only a couple pics but mate Steve will put some more up on face book (https://www.facebook.com/Sea-Tiger-II-156019344476890). Hope to see you soon. Again if you are unsure of the conditions, give me a call.

Fri/Sat Fluke Finale

We again picked away at shorts on Friday and getting a keeper fluke in the afternoon. Today we got one keeper in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. The action was not bad at times but i'm glad it' s over. Now we will be bottom fishing for Porgies and Blackfish, but you are only allowed one blackfish  per person. Staying on the same half day schedule for now sailing at  8 AM & 1:30 PM every day, 7 days a week. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. This time of year be aware of the weather and feel free to call me if you are not certain if we are going out. As of right now Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday do not look good.

Thurs 9/20 report

We picked at shorts all day but not a lot of action landing one keeper in the morning. Saturday is the a last day to keep fluke as the season is closing and then we will switch to bottom fishing (porgies mostly) on the same half day schedule for now. No pics as the camera did not work. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Weds 9/19 Hanging in there.

We made both morning and afternoon trips today picking away at short fluke and also catching a few keepers. On the morning trip teacher Ed  took the pool with one of his two keepers. On the afternoon it was a tight race for the pool between the keepers we caught, but Artie took the honors. Still targeting fluke until Sat 9/22, last day. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Monday 9/17

We only made the morning trip with just a few showing up to got out, but  knew everyone on board. Tried a different area with the same results catching some shorts  and sea robins but also a keeper. Went out to where we have been going and  caught some more shorts but it was a nice day with cloudy skies and a light breeze. We did not bother even trying to go out today (Tuesday) with the rain forecast but will be back on the dock tomorrow and every day there after. Hope to see you soon and thanks for looking in.

Weekend report 9/15 & 16

There has not been too much to report as we tried the bay and ocean looking for some keeper fluke. Most areas had shorts to catch but not many with the bay actually being better and the keepers we have caught have been in the bay. Today looks good but I do not think we will be sailing on Tues 9/18 with the rain forecast. I have been saying we sail rain or shine but after the very poor turnout on  beautiful Sunday, I can't see enough fishermen showing up on a rainy week day. We are trying to hang in there for the fluke but we MAY switch to porgies by Saturday, we will see what the week brings. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon if  you want to catch that last fluke.

Friday 9 /14 We got em

We were the only boat out  in the morning with only a handful of guys. Tried several different areas, with most producing shorts and some nothing. In the last area we picked shorts and finally a keeper fluke. There hasn't been any caught on our party boats since Saturday. Not much of a report but it s was something. Fluke season ends on Saturday  9/ 22 and we will stick with the fluke until then. After that we will be half day porgy (scup) fishing on the same schedule. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. Running 2 half day trips every day, 7 days a week @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Here is a pic of our pool winner, but not good one.

Weds 9/12

We did not make either trip on Tues but did get out on Weds morning, the only boat out. Very few  people showing up to go out with the forecast of high seas and not great weather. We had very thick fog but tried the bay first and then out farther, even into the ocean. It was not rough just a big swell. Picked some shorts and few sea robins and dogfish, in a few areas and a a couple areas  had no life. Did not have enough for the afternoon trip, only one guy, but will be there every day to go at 8 AM and 1:30 PM. This time of year try to pick the nicer days if you can so we can get enough to go out. Thanks for looking in.

Saturday 9/8 and schedule

We made it out both trips on Saturday fishing the ocean most of the morning but it was not nice. Picked shorts on most spots then retreated to the bay. In the afternoon we stayed in the bay picking at shorts and a keeper that was hard to find. none of the boats sailed on Sunday or today. We will try again tomorrow, Tues,  but most likely in the bay. Sailing at 8 AM and again at 1:30 PM, still fishing for fluke. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Friday 9/7 Made it to the ocean

The ocean was not nice but we did go;there and found an area where we picked away at shorts, everyone catching fish. Only a few keeper fluke were boated but it was better than I thought it would be. We were the only boat to make it out in the afternoon but with the east wind and incoming tide together the drift was too fast where we wanted to fish. Picked a few shorts here and there but not good. We will be sailing two trips today, Saturday, and maybe tomorrow morning but Sunday afternoon  and Monday do not look good. Thanks for looking in and here are a couple of pics.

Thurs 9/6 Working the ocean while we can

We made it back out to the ocean this morning with only a few anglers(just enough to go out) but it was rolly, left over from the wind yesterday. Picked shorts and a keeper and tried further out where we picked a few more keeper fluke and some shorts. On the afternoon trip we only had a few more anglers then the morning(Labor day is here) and  the wind picked up again  like yesterday, and we knew it would be too fast a drift with incoming tide and southerly winds.  Tried a different area and found good action with sea robins and some shorts along with a couple of keeper  fluke. Hope to get back out there tomorrow but the weekend does not look good for going into the ocean but we will still be going out if you are interested. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics form today. Oh and btw , I had some bad comments from a guy on facebook that I was not happy about. I try VERY  hard to please the customers on the boat but some times the fishing is not good, can't help that. If there is something I can change to make your trip better then let me know by calling me. Fishing is fishing that's why its called that and one does not always go out and catch a lot of fish every day,  doesn't matter how  good  the fishermen or the  captain is. But if you are not happy on my boat then go else where but do not slam me cause you had a bad day, maybe you are not the fisherman you think you are. Sorry to vent but I get so many good comments and to hear something like that really gets me. Hope to see you soon but we may be stuck in the bay on the weekend and early nest week so if you do come just enjoy going out with nice company and catching some shorts and hopefully a keeper.

Weds 9/5 report

We fished the ocean both trips today and found good action with shorts and sea robins  but not many keeper fluke but its till better than fishing the bay. It was very nice in the morning but the southerly winds kicked up in the afternoon that gave us a fast drift and made it a little rolly.  Hope to get back out there today but not sure about going  there Friday or the weekend with easterly winds and higher seas. Camera on the boat sill post pics with the next report. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. Still sailing two trips, every day(7 days) @  8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM.

Labor day and Tues reports

Labor day Monday turned out to be the busiest of the weekend. We headed out to where we have been catching some fish and started in the deep of the channel witch was a mistake with bad conditions. Moved up on the edge and did pick a few shorts and a couple of keeper fluke. We  later moved back into the deep and picked some more fish as the drift got fast and then it was time to go in. In the afternoon the wind kicked up so we could not fish out there so we stayed in shallower water and did  pick away at shorts and few keepers. The breeze mad it very comfortable. Tuesday we had very little wind all day so it was hot on the sunny side of the boat but we did not have a big group so most were on one side in the shade. Started where we left off the afternoon before  but only one keeper and some shorts. Tried a couple of other spots only to catch only shorts until we went back to the deep of the channel and caught a few more keeper fluke as  Wildly took the pool with the last fish. Did the same in the afternoon but we did catch more keepers with Judy almost taking the pool. Here are some pics from most recent on back, and thanks for looking in. Still running 7 days a week, 2 trips - 8 AM  & again @ 1:30 PM.

Sunday 9/2 Back in the ocean

Finally no wind on the way out so we  headed out to the ocean. Got a keeper a d a few shorts on the first and 2nd drifts before hitting the channel. Picked away at shorts and a fer keepers but expected more as  the drift got too fast. In the afternoon the wind picked up so we made a stop before going to the channel. Did get a keeper and some shorts and then headed out but now the drifts was slowing and starting to go against the wind, not good conditions.
Picked some fish and then headed back to the bay. Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in. Yes sailing tomorrow, labor day.

Friday/Saturday reports - stuck in the bay

Only a few of us made it out on Friday, both trips for us, with east winds of 25 mph and higher so we could only fish Sandy Hook bay and there was not to much. Picked at some shorts but the keeper fluke were few and far between. Today the winds were less and the weather nicer but we were still restrained to the bay and the fishing was the same, not good overall. Hope to get back into the ocean tomorrow so hope to see  you soon. Sailing every day, including the holiday, 2 trips at 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Forgot the camera, not that there were many pics to put up. Thanks for looking in.
