Weds/Thurs 5/13 & 14 Ok AM but tough PM, working on it

We were the only game in town on Weds since other boats did not shape up but we did manage to put a small group together to get out. Decent short fluke action but only a few keepers to take home in the morning.  Barely enough to go in the afternoon but did go out despite the high wind forecast. Picked a few on the first few drifts but then it shut down, as the winds kicked in. Today was the opposite with very little wind and drift but again worked hard to put a few in the boat, unfortunately not enough. Back at it tomorrow and every day so hope to see you on the boat, check the web site for the schedule. Thanks for looking in.

Tues 5/12 Fluke report, Not great but something

We did not make it out on Monday along with the other fluke boats with only 3 showing up on the dock.  We did however, end up with a nice group on a chilly morning and put the effort in to put some fish on the boat. Picked shorts on every drift, and a handful of keeper fluke with Billy O taking the pool and is now new leader in the bigger pools. Kelly was high hook with 2 keeper fluke but could not get his limit. Fishing the generally calm waters of the bay and close to the dock. Two half day trips tomorrow, Weds, @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Hope to see you on the boat and thanks for looking in, here are some pics.

Sat/Sun 5/9 & 10 Come on temps and Fluke

It has been cool on the water and I'm Sure it is not helping the fishing. That being said we only pick at the short fluke slowly and occasionally get a keeper. Hope fully more will move in soon, real soon. Not only has the fishing(catching) been slow but so has the turnout other than the first 2 days of the fluke season.  May have to start venturing to other areas but the ocean temps have been cold. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Fri 5/8 Sailing Sat and Sun(mothers day) but AM only both days

Another decent group today but the weather was not as nice as they predicted, imagine that. Breezy and cool, as we picked at the short fluke with some keepers mixed in. Gary was high hook with 2 keeper fluke, along with shorts, and the pool. We will be sailing tomorrow, Saturday but morning trip only with the rain coming in the afternoon. Same thing on Sunday, mothers day, AM only, as usually nobody shows for the afternoon. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Tues/Weds 5/6 & 7 Fluke reports

We were the only boat to shape up and try to go out on Weds and and ended with a dozen so we went. We picked  some shorts and a few keeper fluke in several different areas. We did beat the rain until it was time to go in and did not try for the afternoon.  Today, Thurs, we went out with a  handful and there was a cool breeze but not rain. First couple of drifts we picked a few shorts and some keepers but the bite shut down.  Tried a few other areas but not good with very little drift as the wind died off. Back at it tomorrow and hope to see you on the boat.  Thanks for looking in and here are some pics, today's first.

Tues 5/5 Happy Cinco de mayo but not like yesterday, Sailing tom AM

It turned out to be a beautiful day, not like yesterday but with no wind there was very little drift, and I complained yesterday about the winds. Started out where we had a drift and traditionally was always a good early season spot, but not luck. Went to where we caught them yesterday but very little drift and only picked at some shorts. Tried a bunch of other areas with the same results, few here and there but the keepers were hard to find. Mike did get one for the pool. We will be trying to sail tomorrow morning but only the morning trip from 8 AM to 12:30. Thanks for looking in and maybe see you on the boat, I hear the other boats are not going out.

Mon 5/4 FLUKE time with a good start

We went out with a decent group of mostly  regulars but had to battle not the greatest of conditions. Did a lot of power drifting to hold an edge, not to give it a drift. A handful of keepers and and nice batch of shorts on the first drift t start the day off.  Travis had his limit by 10:15  and went on to boat another keeper. His buddy John took the pool honors, as Tim and another got 2k with a other single keepers around the boat along with the shorts,  not a lot of action,  but overall a great first early season trip. Back at it tomorrow, which by the way looks very nice, and every day, but check out our schedule. 8 AM  - 2 on M, T, Thurs and Fri.  2 half day trips on Weds and weekends (Sat & Sun), 8 AM - 12:30 and again 1:30 - 6 PM. Thanks for looking in, here are some pics of some of the keepers, and hope to see you on the boat.

Mon/Tues 4/27 & 28 From 0 to semi Hero

On Monday, a beautiful day on the water, we went from Sea Bright to round shoals Staten Island, river to back bay, and all for nothing with only a handful of fishermen. Today we started in the river and than took a long ride but it paid off as Jamie led the pack with 2 overs, two keepers and the pool. A couple other keepers, overs and a short, but it was action. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics. Don't forget our half day special on Friday, 7:30 to 12 and switching to Fluke on Monday, 5/4 leaving @ 8 AM to 2.

Fishing for stripers until May 4, opening day of fluke on a slightly different schedule.

Thurs 4/23 Nice day but had to work at it

Went out on a nice day and did a lot of running around with barely any readings on the fish finder as did the other boats. The guys fished hard and we finally put a few fish in the boat as we tried to get away from the pack. Back at it tomorrow and hope for the best. Russ took the pool with a 39" slob.  Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sunday 4/19 and update to today

Sunday was not the nicest day like today but we went with a small group and the guys fished hard to put a few fish in the boat by the end of the day. We did not get out since then with not enough showing up, guess the warm weather spoiled everyone, but tomorrow looks good to go with the forecast. Sailing every day or trying to, on a 3/4 day schedule 7:30 - 2:30 except May 1, (a half day special) ,  until the fluke season opens. Our schedule will change after that so call or check the web site. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.
