Thurs 11/30 Dig the jig Chris

The weatherman was wrong again and we went out with easterly winds of 15 - 20mph on a cool cloudy morning. Again not rough but not nice. We went back to the area we left from yesterday and caught a couple of keepers and shorts. Moved  to another spot and started a slow pick of some shorts and keeper black fish, a few porgies, and sea bass. Mate Chris led the way using a blackfish jig and getting his blackfish limit(6) up to 6 lbs. He fished because we only had a few customers but he did not leave  them unattended. Most had one or two keepers to take home and Chris gave some of his catch to others. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pis.  The weather looks good the next few days so hope to see you.

Weds 11/29 report, not that nice

South wind yesterday and west wind today meant laying side to,  to the sea. Not rough but uncomfortable, and the fish did not want to cooperate. Worked a couple of different areas and put a small catch of keepers together but picked at shorts.  Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in. Mate Chris with 3 on the first drop ( ok crazy  pic),  some with 2 or one but not all the fish showing.

Tue 11/28 report

It was not as nice as we thought it would be but we made the best of it. Picked mostly shorts and a few keeper blackfish on each drop. Back at it tomorrow and hope the keeper ratio will be better. Here are a couple of pics and thanks for looking in.

Sun 11/26 Should've come Sat.

I was not sure if we would get out this morning with the wind forecast but we did. The way out was not bad but then the wind came on, 30mph +. This made it tough anchoring and feeling the bites. We did pick at  the short blackfish  but not many keepers on the several drops we made with Pete Batista taking the pool. Tomorrow also looks breezy so if you can wait until Tues, it will be much nicer. Just a couple of pics, but I should have taken one of the seas, and thanks for looking in.

11/25 A beauty of a day

You are not going to see to many days like this at the end of November, too bad you missed it, but you were not alone because we were not crowded. Apparently some of the guys who have been haunting me to go black fishing went to look for greener pastures elsewhere. We had a nice pick on a few drops and a couple that were not so good. Danny Wong was High hook with 5 keepers, Kevin came back out and had 4, but not the  pool today that was 7 lbs. Some nice fish around the boat and there was  short action. Tomorrow will be windy and we will see what it looks like in the morning. Here are a few pics of some of the fish, thanks for looking in.

11/24 Black fish Friday

   Report on the bottom, oops.

We didn't get the turnout we expected for a black Friday, which is usually pretty good, but not a bad sized crowd.  Conditions started off bad trying to anchor but we get a few on the first spot. Moved out looking for better conditions and fishing but only found a pick of mostly shorts and a few keepers. Then the wind and current died and it was worse. When we sat on a drop  we did catch a few. Over all the short action was not bad but could have used a few more keepers. Some did have 2 or 3 and the pool fish went 8 lbs but everyone caught fish.. Back at it tomorrow and it should be a nice day and a little warmer. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

11/23 Thanksgiving day report

Happy Thanksgiving to all from the crew and I. We made it out with a small group on a chilly morning and only made 2 drops. Picked at short balckfish and some keepers with Jose' taking the pool with one of his four keepers out of about 20 + fish he caught. Several others had some keepers but all caught fish. Sailing daily right now, weather permitting, call if not sure.Green crabs for bait and a big heated cabin. Thanks for looking in and enjoy the rest of your day.  Here  are a few pics.

Tuesday 11/21 Blackfish report

We got out this morning with a small group  and had good action with short blackfish and picked at the keepers. We also had a few keeper and short sea bass, and of course some dogfish. High hook was 5 and another guy with 4 keeper blackfish on down. Also note a pink colored tog that came up. Sailing tomorrow  and Thursday, but that day will be a shorter trip and I'm still up in the air whether to go for stripers or blackfish, depending on the fishing turns out. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in, sorry its late but had a Dr appointment that took forever.

Monday 11/20 Switching to Blackfish

No boats went out on Sunday with the gale winds again and we did not get enough to go out today. The striped bass boats that did sail caught mostly small fish  and only a couple of keepers and slots. Therefore we will be Blackfishing now except for Thanksgiving day, I'm not sure if we will bass fish or black fish, depending on what happens the next two days. Thursday's trip will be from 7:30 AM to about 1 PM at a reduced rate. Thanks for looking in and have a Happy Thanksgiving  if we don't see you.

Saturday 11/18 Here come the kids

The fishing started out a little slow only getting a few. Then as the current picked up so did the fishing but they shrunk. Great action on every drift for a while with every one catching stripers but  but the keepers and slots (bonus fish), were few and far between but we did manage a couple. No boats went out today with the gale winds but I think we can get tomorrow ,Monday, in. We will switch to blackfish on Tues but on Thanksgiving day we will run a half day special @ 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM for stripers unless that fishing falls apart. Thanks for looking in and here are just a couple of pics, should have  got more.

Sat 11/18 AM - Not sailing Sun 11/19

Just a quick note that we will not be sailing tomorrow, Sunday and not sure about Monday with the wind forecast. May switch to blackfish this week except for Thursday (Thanksgiving day),  we will run a Striper special from 7:30 AM to 12:30 pm at a reduced rate. Thanks for looking in and see you on the dock.

Thurs 11/16 Not today and not sailing tomorrow

Well it did not happen like the last two days, we only picked at some keepers, shorts, bonus fish and our first blue fish of the fall season where we have been fishing. Went to another area, not that close but  heard fish were being caught. Half way there we heard it was over so made a couple of stops only to catch another blue fish. The  fish did come up again but we could not connect. Did more riding only to catch a couple of more shorts. Gale force winds tomorrow, Friday, so we will not be going out. Here are just a few pics and thanks for looking in.

Weds 11/15 Did it AGAIN !

We had another great day striper fishing, half hour from the dock and limiting the boat  out on keepers by about 10 AM.  We then limited out on the bonus fish,(24-28"). Everyone on board went home with a keeper (28") and a bonus fish. We do have bonus tags and use them so you can go home with an extra fish. I was thinking of switching to blackfish BUT with this great fishing we will wait until the weekend to switch. Not sure if we are going out on Friday with gale force winds, we will have to wait and see. Pool fish today went 41" at 28 lbs and Bill Bergen got  second with a 21 lb 38" whopper. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. We also had a group of guys from Naval station Earl that had a great time. And btw the first pic on yesterday's report was from a previous trip, oops, and the pic of the boats were of Belmar and Point Pleasant boats up here in our bay.
