Weekend washout

Friday 5/28 and update
We only planned on doing the morning trip only on Fri, good thing cause it got worse as the morning wore on. We did catch a few keeper fluke along with triple that in shorts and a couple of blue fish, but it was slow overall. Nobody went out today and tomorrow looks like a wash, the morning anyway so we won't be sailing, but will see what happens in the afternoon, please give me a call before coming down. Of course my competitor is waiting for my report on sailing but this is my decision. Monday and the rest of the week are a go. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. BTW the cabin is now open without masks.

Update thru Thurs 5/27
I haven't been doing a daily report as things are pretty much the same, picking at short fluke and blues with only a few keeper fluke coming aboard. On Thursday afternoon a long time customer, Barbara Melnic (Stu 's wife), showed the guys how to catch them by boating two keepers. We WILL be sailing this morning, Friday 5/28, but not the afternoon trip,or will we be going out tomorrow, Saturday, with the gale wind forecast. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. Masks and reservations are not needed now.

Tuesday 5/25
We only got out on the morning trip as not enough for the afternoon. Picked some short and keeper fluke, also a couple of blues. Not a lot of people have been showing up but we are there to go if the weather permits. For example this afternoon is not looking good for any kind of turnout but we will try, but Friday as of now, may not be worth coming down for since we can't even get enough on nice days. Will post some pics on the next report. Thanks for looking in, and call if you want for groups or info but no need for reservations.

Monday 5/24
We managed to get enough to go out this morning but not the afternoon. Picked at some short fluke and a few small bluefish but eventually caught a few keeper fluke. Much chillier than yesterday with S E winds and cool temps but it gave us a good drift where we were fishing. Sailing two trips every day and reservations are not needed unless you have a small group an want to be together. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.
Sunday 5/23 A limit and improvement
We saw a few more keeper fluke on our morning trip although it is still slow. We are working a lot of areas trying to put a catch together. The fish seem to be scattered and not concentrated in anyone area. On the afternoon trip we had one man with his limit of fluke (3) and we had some blues mixed in. Sailing 2 trips, every day, 7 days @ 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sat 5/22 Fluke time
We had high expectations with the fishing and the turnout. Turnout was good but not what I would expect for opening day on a nice day, the fishing (catching) though, was not. Tried the usual spots catching only a few keepers and some shorts on the morning trip, with Steve Kaminski getting the first keeper of this year, winning a free trip, but the afternoon was even slower with Bob K taking the pool. Tomorrow is another day so hope we can improve on the catch. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Update toThurs 5/20 Surprise
It has been a very slow week not getting out much and catching nothing, to the point where we are not anxious to go out. Thurs afternoon we got stuck going out with a few even after telling them it was no good and don't expect to catch much. Lenny nailed a striper on the first stop and then we picked at blue fish the rest of the afternoon. Felt sooo good to catch something and everyone on board did. We will be there this morning to go out, but may not try this afternoon if we get out in the morning, so to get ready for the opening day of Fluke tomorrow, Saturday. Reservations not needed unless you have a bigger group but be down early as we expect a good turnout. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sunday Striper and blues
We got a little lucky on Sunday morning boating a 35" striper but then that was it. On the afternoon trip we did catch a few bluefish. Its been all jigging so bring a rod you can cast with but we do have clams on the boat if you want to try them. Here are a few pics in reverse order and thanks for looking in. Fluke starting Sat May 22.

Friday/Sat 5/14 &15
We did not have enough to go out in the morning on Fri but did make the afternoon trip, but it was no good. Saturday we did pick a few keeper stripers, 2 were bonus fish, but it was something. It seems jigging is the ticket but we do have clams on board. Sailing everyday, 2 trips, @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM. Thanks for looking in hope to see you soon.

Weds/Thurs fishing
We have been going out with very small groups but other than Weds morning, the weather has been good. That is the only thing that has been good because the catching has not,(fishing is always good). The highlight of the last few trips has been seeing a large pod (group) of dolphins on Weds afternoon and then a whale at the end of the trip, yes in our bay. Still sailing 2 half day trips every day at 8 AM and 1:30 PM and will be switching to fluke on Sat 5/22 when it happens, can't be soon enough. Starting Sat 5/15 we can use our bonus tags for stripers that are between 22 and 28". Thanks for looking in and hope everyone is well.

Sunday 5/9 thru Tues.
Went out with a small group Sunday morning and picked at some shorts, and losing one that would have been a keeper and a small fluke. We Did not try for the afternoon and we have not been out since with not enough showing up. Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, I have a few guys coming so hope to give it a shot. Starting Saturday we will be able to use our bonus tags that will allow us to keep fish between 24 & 28 inches, one per person along with a fish 28 - 38". The following Saturday, May 22 , we will switch over to fluke (summer flounder). Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Fri and Sat 5/7 & 8
We only had a couple of people on Fri AM and did not go out, but did in the PM with a handful. Only boated one short and lost a couple. This AM we caught a few shorts early and caught a few more later on but that was it. It was not the nicest day to be out with southeasterly winds and showers. Not enough for the PM trip but will be there in the morning, not sailing Sunday, mothers day, afternoon. Monday morning is not looking good as of now also. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.
