Sunday Happy Hal-loween - bring crabs

       We went out today to test the waters after the 50 mph east wind storm not expecting to much.  Made a few drops in close the moved out and did catch a couple of sea bass but picked at the black fish,  mostly shorts. High hook had 3 keeper black fish(he took his one fish black fish limit out of that)  and keeper sea bass, but we picked at the shorts around the boat. We have clams for bait but bring crabs as they sometimes work better for the black fish. We will bottom fish till the end of the week hoping the striped bass turn on and go from there, we will see what happens.Thanks for looking in and here are a couple of pics.

Not going until Sunday 10/31

     Looks like we will not be going out until Sunday 10/31 and will get you home in time to give out the candy. I had a couple of calls about going out tomorrow, Thurs, but it will not be nice with bad conditions and after the storm we just had you will not catch much so therefore we will not be going out. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon. We will be bottom fishing until the stripers take hold.

Sunday 10/24 No go for a few days

     Another very nice day on the water other than the chill. Picked on on drop when we got on it but not fast, just enough to stay with, catching short and keeper sea bass along with a couple of porgies and blackfish, including one young man getting his pool winning keeper blackfish. We even caught a few small bonito but then we ended up drifting. Tomorrow and the next few days do not look good with south winds to 25 and big seas, so we will not be sailing. We will have to see what happens later in the week, but it does not look good.  Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Sat 10/23 Not as nice as Fri.

     As nice as it was on Friday not enough showed for most of the boats to go out including us. Today was much cooler and the anchoring could have been better but we managed to put fish in the boat. Had to make a few drops sometimes more than once on a spot. Good action but most of the fish were short sea bass with some keepers, a couple of trigger fish, and even a couple of keeper porgies. Sailing tomorrow, Sunday, @ 7:30 AM but not sure about Monday or Tuesday yet. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics. 

Thurs 10/21 Beautiful day on the water

      The weather could not be better in fact too nice where it was tough to stay on the drop on anchor. So we ended up drifting and when we were on it, it was good fishing, but mostly short sea bass. We did boat some nice keepers though along with a trigger fish and some short black fish. Sailing one trip every day @ 7:30 AM so hope to see you on the dock. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Weds 10/20

     The weatherman was wrong again when they said the winds would be less. it was not with guts to over 30 mph. Made a few drops and picked most of them, good action at times but like the fluking not enough keepers. Mostly short sea bass and black fish with some keepers mixed in and a triggerfish. Don't forget we leave at 7:30 AM now. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Monday 10/18 See you Weds

     Nobody showed up for us this morning and it will be windy again tomorrow so we will not sail until Wednesday 10/20. Now sailing at 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM and will eventually switch to a longer schedule. Still bottom fishing for sea bass, porgies and black fish, but we do not have crabs, only clams, so pick some up if you want to use them. Sunday 10/17 The last half day

     We got out this morning with colder temps and breezy conditions but decided not to go in the afternoon. Picked away at he fish, sea bass, but most were shorts with some keepers and a trigger fish that took the pool. We are now only sailing one trip a day @ 7:30 AM to 1:30 for this week and will go to a longer trip by the end of the week. Thanks for looking in and here are a couple of pics. 

Friday 10/15 Sailing Sat AM only

     It was a beautiful day on the ocean with warm temps and no wind. Went back to where we left them biting but only had a shot and it died. Tried a few other drops only catching a few on each, not a good morning. On the afternoon trip we worked out way out to different drops and finally connected. Picked away mostly short sea bass but got enough keepers so most went home with a dinner or two. Couple of porgies and backfish in the mix with Dalton's 5lb blackfish taking the pool. Only sailing the morning today,Saturday, with the weather coming this afternoon. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics, although you may see people twice, they came out again in the afternoon. Weds/ Thurs 10/13 & 14

    We only got out in the  morning the last two days with Weds fishing no good with the big swell. Today we did catch a lot more fish, a lot of shorts but also some  keepers, all sea bass and a couple of small blackfish. At least the action was good and it was a very nice day. Back at it tomorrow sailing two trips @ 8 AM and 1:30 PM and hope fully Saturday morning, if the weather does not get us. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Tues 10/12 Not sailing until Weds

      Only a few people showed up for the morning trip but not enough for anyone to go out. Therefore we will  NOT go out this afternoon but will be there in the morning,Weds 10/13. We are sill sailing two trips @ 8 AM and again @ 1:30 PM through this weekend then go to one morning trip. Thanks for looking in.

Friday 10/8 & Sat 10/9

    Friday was the opener of keeping sea bass but getting the keepers was the hard part. Did you expect anything less. We have been throwing a lot of nice keeper sea bass back before the season open but now we had to weed through a hundred shorts to get a few. The afternoon actually turned out better but with more keeper porgies along with some keeper bass. On Saturday the winds were blowing from the east but we gave it shot as the  only boat to sail. We  did catch some porgies,  sea bass and trigger fish but the ocean was not nice. No boats sailed to day and will not tomorrow, maybe we can get out on Tuesday. We are still on the half day schedule for this week anyway. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics. 

Weds 10/6

      We got out on both trips and fished the same area where we had some fish over the weekend but caught mostly shorts and some keepers, both porgies and black sea bass, that is till closed until Friday 10/8. The action was good but we did not take home a lot. the weather looks good for today, Thurs and tomorrow( Fri) but the weekend is not looking good with easterly winds picking up, we will have to see how it turns out. We are still on the half day schedule sailing two trips @ 8 AM and 1:30 PM if enough people show up. Thanks for looking in and here are a couple of pics.
