Not sailing until at least Tues 10/1

Here we  go again with the easterly winds and rough seas, and the rain does not help. Not going to be nice on the ocean the next few days so we will not be going out until Tues or Weds. Not much in the bay so we can't get away with fishing there. Sorry and thanks for looking in.

Sat 9/28 Update and not sailing this afternoon

Tues and Weds were not good as we only caught short fluke and other fish, blues, dogfish small sea bass and robins. Weds was the last day to keep fluke and we did not sail Thurs or Fri. We shaped up this morning but not enough showed up but it would have not been nice anyway with the rain and east winds to 25 mph. Therefore we are cancelling this afternoon trip an see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for looking in.

Sun/Mon 9/22& 23 Ed the man and change of plan

Sunday was a repeat of Saturday with only a pick of shorts and other fish in the morning but we did manage a couple of nice keeper fluke in the afternoon with Dave getting the first keeper fluke and  Joe getting one to take him out of the pool by a few ounces. Today we had a couple of drifts with nothing, because of the swell but finally found a few shorts, sea robins, and sea bass that we can not keep yet. Tried a few other areas and landed on some beauties. Teacher Ed Christensen, as we call him, knocked off a 6 3/4 lber, our biggest of the season, and we picked a few more nice keeper fluke. On the afternoon trip, Ed did it again with a 5.2 lb beauty to take the pool again, he better play the lottery tonight. We will ONLY sail the morning trip tomorrow with the Easterly winds against the tide in the afternoon and will do a special 6 hour trip on Weds 9/25 for the last day of fluke from 8 AM to 2 PM, $75 pp. Not sailing Thurs or Friday but half day, last half day trips, on this weekend for porgies. Here are some pics, today first, and thanks for looking in.

Sat 9/21 Still a few here and pic of the sub

We did not sail the last two days with the forecast that was wrong but got out this morning and will sail the next few. Picked at short fluke and black sea bass that we can not keep, couple of small blues, but the weather was nice. On the afternoon trip we got a couple of nice keeper fluke with Dave taking the pool with a 5.2 lber beating out  4.1 lber. Picked at  shorts and the usual other fish. Back at it tomorrow and the rest of the week with Weds being the last day for fluke. Not sailing Thurs and Fri and will sail again on Sat and Sun for our last half day trips for porgies, before switching to one morning trip only. Thanks for looking in and here are couple of pics.

Weds 9/18 The best part of today - not sailing until Sat 9/21

We barely made it out this morning with just enough and the fishing was not good, picked at some shorts here and there. Not terrible weather but the ocean was still riled up. Best part of this morning was we got to see the USS New Jersey Submarine leave the port of Earl ammunition pier. Therefore we WILL NOT be sailing until Sat 9/21 and hope conditions change. Thanks for looking in and see you soon on the dock. Any reservation on coming down just give me a  call.

Mon Tues 915 & 16 Getting tougher but ... Sailing Weds AM only

With the E and NE winds there is still a  big roll on the ocean and there is not much left in the calmer waters. However, today in the roll Rick boated a beauty @ 6 lbs. Few other keepers along with some short fluke,  but not good. Same thing yesterday only a couple of keeper fluke and some shorts along with the other fish. We will try to go out tomorrow morning but not the afternoon. Probably the same on Thursday and will see what Friday brings if the weatherman can get it right. Maybe its me but seems they are wrong more than right so I cant figure a schedule. Call me if you are not sure. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Wekend report 9/14 & 15 Slowed up

The fishing(catching) over the weekend was not impressive, think the roll got to them. Not as many keeper fluke and less shot action bu;t still managed a few each trip. Sat AM t;he groom of a small group of guys celebrating him getting married actually took the pool also. On the afternoon trip we were slammed with people that we did not expect bu;t former mate Braedon's little son took the pool honors as did Frank on Sunday's AM trip. Back at it today, Monday and tomorrow, but not sure about Weds to Friday with the rain coming. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Friday the 13th Fluking

Another nice day but there was a roll from an offshore storm but was not rough. Very little wind that was against the tide so the drift was slow, as was the picking. But we did manage to put a little catch together with Gary taking the pool with one of his 2 keeper fluke and few others around the boat along with the short fluke. On the afternoon trip the breeze came up with the tide and we had a better drift and pick. More keeper fluke and more action. Tony tied for the pool, that was almost a 3 way tie. Last day for fluke is Sept 25 and we will not be sailing the two days after that, Thurs and Fri. Check the web site for schedule and species after that. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Weds/ Thurs 9/11 & 12 May we never forget and good fishing.

I did not do a report on Weds as we went to see the lights for the 911 memorial, may we NEVER forget, our hearts go out to the families of the fallen. The fishing was ok on Weds but we are seeing less action with the shorts but al least putting some keeper fluke on the boat. Thurs was better yet and we also had a few keeper porgies, that are steeling our baits. Double digits of keeper fluke on both trips with the afternoon being better. Teacher Ed got his 3 fish limit, 2 on the first drift, and painter Cathy got 2, but trying to make the board, as did a couple of others. On the morning tip Ken (red sweatshirt) took the pool with one of his 2keeper fluke as we picked slower because of a slower drift but ended up ok. Nice weather until about Weds so try to come out on these beautiful Sept. days. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics from Thurs afternoon first on back, unfortunately some of Weds AM pics did not come out.
