Thurs/Fri reports- Yes we are

    Got several calls at 4:30 AM this morning from the same person asking if we were sailing. Thank you for waking me up, could have just left a message and I will call you back. Yes we are sailing today and every day in rain or or thunderstorms. The only days we don't sail is if nobody shows up to go out or thee is too much wind. That being said we had just fair fishing on Thursday picking at shorts and  some keepers. Friday was much better with good short action and more keepers around the boat to 7 lbs on the morning trip and also good on the afternoon trip but most of the action was at the beginning of the tide before it got too fast. Weds 8/8 afternoon

    After not making the morning trip we did get out in the afternoon with a nice group of familiar faces and a southerly breeze to make it very comfortable. So much nicer then being on land and like I said in the last report the afternoons are generally cooler. We picked at some shorts and a couple of keeper fluke on the first drift and tried a couple of other areas. Found a few more keepers and a beautiful giant(for the bay) black sea bass that measured over 20 inches. Don't let the weatherman scare you with the threat of thunderstorms forecast, we still go and most times never see them. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics and one form the other day.

Mon/Tues and Weds morning

     We did not make it out this morning with nobody showing up to go fishing. Weather was terrible last night but nice now. We also did not make it out on Tues afternoon with only a couple showing up. The mornings have been busy but I think  people think its cooler in the mornings but it's not usually true. In the afternoons we get a southerly breeze to cool things down. The fishing(catching) has slowed up as far as keepers but we are catching shorts and other things. We are there  every day, rain or shine, to go out. Hope to see you soon and thanks for looking in. No pics with this report.

Sunday 8/5 much nicer

    With no wind last nite the seas were much calmer. Picked a few shorts and keepers on the morning trip waiting for the current to slow up and then there was none. When it did change we got a got pick going of shorts and keeper fluke. Just in time before it got too fast. On the afternoon trip we again had to wait till the current slowed up, especially since the wind came up in the same direction. We did manage to get a few keepers and shorts and the afternoon turn out ok. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in.

Saturday 8/4 Rolly but...

     With no wind in the bay in the morning we headed back outside (ocean/channels). Had a drift across the channel with a few shorts and sea robins. Moved around and then started picking away at shorts and other fish. the action was good but the keepers were hard to find. We did have some rain when we first got out  and then another shower later on but everyone had a good time. On the afternoon trip we again went right back out since there were no conditions in the bay and caught the change of tide with no wind. Did get a few shorts and a keeper until the dogs took over. Moved to were the tide started to go out and picked better. Then we got on to a good drift picking away at shorts, sea robins, dogfish and some keepers, but the action was great. All in all a very nice afternoon with more keepers (some with 2) then we have been catching except for the rolly conditions. Not rough but some were not felling that great. thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Thurs/Fri 8/2 & 3 Finally got one

    The weather people have been screaming about all the thunder storms and heavy rain we will get but we have not down here until Thurs afternoon. It all happened at the start of the afternoon but then it cleared up for a nice one. Picked slowly at some shorts and a few keepers with a high hook of two in the bay cause we could not go out to other areas. On he morning trip we started in the bay and then ran outside for better action catching shorts, sea robins and couple of keepers. It was a repeat of what happened on Thursday. Sailing every day, rain, shine or in thunderstorms 2 trips. thanks for looking in and again if you have any questions, please give me a call on the phone. Here are some pics.

Tues/Weds 7/31 & 8/1

     On Tues we went right back out to the ocean in the channel and picked away with shorts , sea robins and dogfish but only a few keeper fluke, but the action was good. On the afternoon trip the wind kicked up so we had to stay in the bay but picked away at shorts and a few keepers again but with less action.  Not enough showed up this morning to make it out even though the weather down here was not bad.  Did make the afternoon trip with a small group and Artie lead the way getting his limit of keepers out of the dozen or so he caught. Here are some pics and thanks for looking in. BTW,  In many instances the people up in north Jersey get bad weather but we don't down here. So if you are not sure then give me a call.
