Weds/Thurs Last Bottom trip & Striper time - making memories but not meals

Our last bottom trip was not what we expected and I went way out to get them. But today we had a great day, despite the rough conditions catching BIG striped bass, unfortunately too big to keep. Fish from 33 to 46", limit is 28 - 31" , what a joke and what are they thinking. Everyone caught fish or was hooked up to one so they had memories not to forget. We even had a nice whale show on the way in. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics, but don't expect so many pics every time.

Tues 10/22 Day screw up - 3/4 day Stripers starting Thurs 10/24

I put yesterdays post as Mon/Tues but it was Sun/ Mon but the dates were right if you didn't figure it out. Today was not as good as yesterday, picked only a few black fish, one keeper that Rick caught that won the pool and had some keeper sea bass, with a lot of shorts. Tomorrow will be our last bottom fishing trip as we will be switching to Striped Bass on Thurs on a 3/4 day schedule from 7:30 AM to 2:30 -3 pm. Left camera on the boat will put pics up tomorrow. Thanks for looking in and see you on the dock or boat.

Mon/Tues 10/20 &21 Bottom fishing Gett'n better - Bring crabs

Monday was only a little better than Sunday as we rode all over looking for a few hungry fish as the swell was still there, but less. Mostly short sea bass and a few blackfish along with a couple of keeper sea bass, and of course some spiny dogfish. Much better today as we found a few hungry blackfish and had a nice pick on them, mostly shorts, and a few keepers.  Ben,  a regular on the party boats, took pool honors with one of his 5 keeper blackfish and quite a few shorts(limit  is one pp at this time). Gary also got 2 keepers along with 15 shorts or so.  The guys that brought a few crabs did much better, but we did catch a few on clams. Beautiful day on the water as will the next two will be. We will be back at it tomorrow morning, be there by 7:30 AM one trip only. Bottom fishing until the stripers show up. Thanks for looking in.

Sat 10/19 report - What I expected

We went out on a very nice day, at the dock and tried a couple of local drops cause I knew there was a BIG roll, heave, swell or whatever you want to call it in the ocean. But we ended up going out there anyway and it was nicer than I thought it would be. Still a big roll but not rough as I heard it was yesterday.  tough anchoring conditions with no wind and the swell pushing you around. Made a few drops only to catch a few small blacksh and sea bass, but only a few dogfish which was surprising. It got nicer as the day went on so hopefully tomorrow will be better. Thanks for looking in.

Sun 10/13 Not nice today and not sailing tomorrow

Weather seemed nice at the dock this morning, but as we went farther out it was not nice. Made a couple of drops to only catch a few on the first one and had good action on the second one, with only a few keeper porgies and sea bass, but we paid for it, rolling around so we will cancel tomorrows trip. Unfortunately, it's a holiday, but will not sail aging until Friday, 10/18. Can't seeing wasting your time or  mine, since very few are showing up during the week. Keep posted as we may change the schedule. Sorry about that, and thanks for looking in.
