Sunday 10/7 Pulled it out

Another nice turnout in the morning so we headed back to where we had great fishing on Sat and looked around. Hmmm,  didn't see much but anchored anyway, for nothing just a dogfish. Tried again a little deeper and only a couple. Moved to another area and started to pick ok not great but good enough. The current came and we swung over and lost the bite. Moved over a little deeper and found them. A good pick but the stern did the best with the strong current. In the afternoon we tried a different are since the day before that area was not too productive. no current at first and only caught a few. Made a couple of more drops and put a catch together. Here are some pics (rack barrel of only the ones we cleaned, a lot went off whole)  and thanks for looking in. Black Sea bass opens today so we will be targeting both and still on the half day schedule for this week.

Saturday 10/6 One drop stop

We had a decent late turnout in the morning despite the clouds and cool NE breeze. Went back to the general area we fished yesterday and found a nice reading. Anchored up and here they came, singles and double headers all around the boat. As the current picked up (we are coming up to the new moon) it slowed up to a nice pick so we never had to move but had to put on heavy sinkers (12 oz). We ended up with a great catch fish filling a garbage can with racks besides all the ones that went off whole. Just a handful showed up in the afternoon and it was only a slow pick at best after making a few drops. Here are a couple of pics as the mates were very busy cutting bait and cleaning fish. Thanks for looking in. Still sailing two trips every day including Columbus day.

Friday 10/5 Moon coming

We only got out  on the morning trip with not enough showing up on very nice afternoon. We went to where we were fishing last week and again picked away after making two short drops that did not pan out. From a bucket full on down everyone went home with fish. Still sailing two trips every day including holidays @ 8 AM and 1:30 PM. We are coming up to the new moon so the currents will be stronger. Plan on fishing with heavier weights, 8 oz or more. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Thurs 10/4 Pick away

We had a little better turnout for the morning trip and stayed on our first drip most of the morning picking away at the porgies. Everyone caught and went home with fish. On the afternoon there were less fishermen but the fishing was the same with a steady pick of mostly keeper size porgies. Still sailing 2 trips every day, weather and turnout permitting, at least until Oct 14. Black Sea Bass opens on Monday 10/8, Columbus day. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.

Tues/Weds - Go figure

We had a decent pick on Tues but not the super fishing like last week but still everyone caught fish and went home with a few meals. Today we had good fishing and only had to make one drop. Nice size fish with very few shorts, making a few 1/2 to 3/4 buckets of fish. Of course some only catch a few but others give them some of the extras they don't need. I just don't get it with the beautiful weather and good fishing we are having that only a few show up to go out. Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in. We will be reducing our schedule soon so give us a call if you are not sure.

Monday Monday 10/1

We made it out this morning and went to where we have been fishing the last couple of trips. Nothing there so we went to another area and picked some nice fish but we had to deal with the current.  High hook was about 25 but everyone had fish to go home with, not like the fluke trips at the end. Not enough showed up for the afternoon trip, just Dr Dan O.  Chris was a little busy cleaning fish so only took one pic, but thanks for looking in land hope to see you soon.

Sunday 9/30

In the morning we went to where we fished on Saturday afternoon so we did not have to deal with strong current issues. Picked away for half the morning and then it died, I think some false albacore came and spooked them. Made a couple of moves and finally found some that were hungry. The only problem was most of them were shorts with only a few keepers mixed in, the opposite of what we have been seeing. Went to the same are in the afternoon but the fishing was not as good overall. Some people did good while some only caught a few, but all went home with  a few meals. Still sailing two trips every day this week as long a s enough show up to go. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you as the weeks weather looks good. Here are few pics including one of the albacore we caught, that the kids had a blast taking turns reeling it in.
