We ended up with a great morning bite after a fair start. Picked away at porgies and then after moving around got a shot at some sea bass and more porgies. The afternoon also started good with nice size fish but only certain people caught them. Thick fog most of the day but we managed. Went to where we had a good shot in the morning but someone must have seen us catching in the morning and decided to got there, but we did ok in other spots. We will try to go out in the morning tomorrow, but not the afternoon or on Friday. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Tues 10/9 Nicer ocean
When we headed out today I didn't know what to expect after yesterdays East wind and rough ocean. It was not bad at all and we picked away at porgies and some keeper and short sea bass that is now open. We still had to deal with the strong currents by the time we headed in but everyone had a few dinners to go home with. In the afternoon it was almost all porgies but everyone ended up with a nice mess. Tomorrow looks good but not sure about Thurs or Fri with some weather coming in. Here are a few pics and thanks for looking in.

Monday 10/8 Sea bass opens
People were expecting a nice day but was not. Went out to try to catch them but it was NOT nice. Anchored up and picked a few fish, mostly porgies and a few sea bass. Had to retreat to another area and we did pick away at some porgies. Hopefully the ocean conditions will be better tomorrow. No boats went out in the afternoon. Will post a couple of pics tomorrow and thanks for looking in.
Sunday 10/7 Pulled it out
Another nice turnout in the morning so we headed back to where we had great fishing on Sat and looked around. Hmmm, didn't see much but anchored anyway, for nothing just a dogfish. Tried again a little deeper and only a couple. Moved to another area and started to pick ok not great but good enough. The current came and we swung over and lost the bite. Moved over a little deeper and found them. A good pick but the stern did the best with the strong current. In the afternoon we tried a different are since the day before that area was not too productive. no current at first and only caught a few. Made a couple of more drops and put a catch together. Here are some pics (rack barrel of only the ones we cleaned, a lot went off whole) and thanks for looking in. Black Sea bass opens today so we will be targeting both and still on the half day schedule for this week.

Saturday 10/6 One drop stop
We had a decent late turnout in the morning despite the clouds and cool NE breeze. Went back to the general area we fished yesterday and found a nice reading. Anchored up and here they came, singles and double headers all around the boat. As the current picked up (we are coming up to the new moon) it slowed up to a nice pick so we never had to move but had to put on heavy sinkers (12 oz). We ended up with a great catch fish filling a garbage can with racks besides all the ones that went off whole. Just a handful showed up in the afternoon and it was only a slow pick at best after making a few drops. Here are a couple of pics as the mates were very busy cutting bait and cleaning fish. Thanks for looking in. Still sailing two trips every day including Columbus day.

Friday 10/5 Moon coming
We only got out on the morning trip with not enough showing up on very nice afternoon. We went to where we were fishing last week and again picked away after making two short drops that did not pan out. From a bucket full on down everyone went home with fish. Still sailing two trips every day including holidays @ 8 AM and 1:30 PM. We are coming up to the new moon so the currents will be stronger. Plan on fishing with heavier weights, 8 oz or more. Thanks for looking in and here are a few pics.

Thurs 10/4 Pick away
We had a little better turnout for the morning trip and stayed on our first drip most of the morning picking away at the porgies. Everyone caught and went home with fish. On the afternoon there were less fishermen but the fishing was the same with a steady pick of mostly keeper size porgies. Still sailing 2 trips every day, weather and turnout permitting, at least until Oct 14. Black Sea Bass opens on Monday 10/8, Columbus day. Thanks for looking in and hope to see you soon.
