Tues 7/22 Grandpa ruled

The weather people really screwed this one up, not for the rain forecast but the wind. Forecasting 5-10 east winds that were 20 -25, so the ocean was not nice. We did however, find an area where we could fish and it did produce fish. Our first go to spot only produced dogfish and skates and was a little rolly. Ventured to another area all by ourselves and picked away at the fish, mostly short fluke but with a  decent amount of keepers with much nicer conditions. Gary's granddaughter caught one of the first keeper fluke and he heard about it but then he came back to catch his limit. We ended up catching a decent amount of keeper fluke along with  the shorts and a few dogfish. Pulled this one out of the hat with the conditions. Thanks for looking in and here are pics of some of the fish.

Mon 7/21 Stan Jr Elaine B day

We had a special group aboard to honor the passing of Stan Jr of the party boat Elaine B. Many of his regulars that are still with us along with other people on the boat. Made one stop as mate Mike D, formerly mate on the Elaine B made a nice speech and threw some flowers. We then went to work to catch some fish. Fished the sticky stuff and had good action with  short and sea bass and fluke along with a decent amount of keepers in the mix. I'm sure everyone caught but not all went home with fish as the mates were busy cleaning fish on the way in. Thanks for looking in and here are pics of some of the keepers.

Sunday fun day 7/20

The weather people scared  off a few people but we still ended up ok on very nice day. Worked on a little area of fish we found, seems like more moved in, and picked away on both trips with good short fluke action and a fair amount of keepers also. But when the current slows up we have to deal with skates and dogfish sharks. Going out on or longer trip today with some Elaine B people to commemorate Stan Jr's passing, 4 yrs ago today, (7/21/21) but not sure yet where we will head to. Not a charter, still open boat. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.

Fri/Sat 7/18 & 19 reef to reef and local fluke report

On Fri we made a couple of drifts locally and t;hen took a ride to the Rockaway reef off NY. Picked a few keeper fluke and short sea bass but mostly short fluke, and then the long ride back. On the afternoon trip we went to our reef and same thing but did get a few keeper sea bass. The problem is we loose too much tackle from people that do not know how to get unstuck. On Sat we stayed away for the sticky areas and fished more locally. we caught more keeper fluke and had a shorter. But on the afternoon trip the dogfish took over after we did catch a few keeper fluke and became annoying. Thanks for looking in and here are some pics.
